Challenge:

Supply and installation of low voltage power and communications cable trays used as an architectural feature in Giant Bike’s new high-end retail store in Auckland’s CBD.

What MSS did:

MSS supplied and installed all the exposed cable trays and supporting fixtures.

The quality and consistency of the installation was the key element to the success of this project. It was all about generating the WOW factor to the finished area, to reflect a unique design, enhance Giant Bike’s brand image and make the space memorable.

Outcome:

The key factor for this project was the absolute requirement for installation consistency throughout. We focused on the symmetry of the support spacing, material consistency, quality and the aesthetic look of the products.

Giant Bikes were thrilled with the result.

The critical lesson:

The critical lessons:

  1. When cable trays are on display in the public eye and are not hidden above false ceiling structures, the key element to success is focusing on the quality and precision of the installation throughout.
  2. The weight of importance needs to be on specialised installation techniques, attention to detail, quality of staff and the quality of products.

Challenge:

Part 1: Supply and installation of all base build cable containment.

Part 2: Design, engineer and installation of main and secondary power switchboards seismic restraints.

Tepid Baths is a listed heritage project with a high element of intricacy, and an acute need for specialist experience in seismic design, supply and attention to detail.

One of the key challenges was work space and time restraints.

What MSS did:

Part 1 & 2: Design, engineer, supply and install all seismic constraints and cable containment for the electrical contractors including

  • issuing of PS1 producer statement on design
  • issuing of PS4 producer statement on installation.

Part 3: Engineered all the restraints across multiple services for the following companies:

  • Trak Electrical and Mechanical
  • Argus Fire
  • Peter Illingworth plumbing

Outcome:

The multiple project components were undertaken and successfully completed within the designated time frame to the required engineering codes of standard.

MSS is very proud of the results our team achieved as well as being involved in a heritage project of this calibre.

The critical lesson:

A NZ heritage project of this calibre required calculated planning and attention to detail. MSS developed a thorough process that relentlessly examined and analysed our work to ensure our seismic solutions fully
